The basic concept of internet marketing(IM) is pretty simple.

Build a high quality mailing list of people who like to buy what you recommend.

If you can do that then you will make good money and be successful online.

Here’s my list of stuff to get you started.
1) Write down some very specific goals. My first was to make enough money to pay for my health insurance ($1000 per month). Then my mortgage. Then enough to do it full time etc.

Write your goals down. Print out multiple copies. Post them on your fridge, your bedside, your desk. anywhere you will see them. Every time you see the goals visualize what your life will be like when you get them.

Don’t skip this step.

2) Find a topic that the people on your list are interested in, purchase stuff about and something you can create content for( or if you have the money pay people to write for you). I like picking focused sub topics in big markets so you have a chance of making it work. For example, if you want to do a digital photography list I would focus on multiple niche topics like filters, lights, accessories etc.

So think about what you want to focus on. Make sure there is money being spent on your chosen topic.

3.) You need a way to manage your list. If you can afford it, I suggest Aweber. It’s what I use
and what most everyone else uses. you can check out other services, but I haven’t tried them.

If you can’t afford Aweber, then you could try using a Facebook group. On the plus side, its probably easier to get people into a group. On the downside, you are at the mercy of Facebook if they should change the rules or if you break one of their rules.

I would suggest doing both if you can.

4) You need some reason for people to join your list. Usually an article, an ebook, or an audio interview or some interesting content that you target market wants and finds valuable.

5) Drive traffic to your list sign up page. I would start my own blog and position myself as an expert in the topic. Get YourNameHere.com if it’s available. If not, get something like BobThePlumber.com. The domain will cost about $10 per year and hosting will cost about $10 per month at Dreamhost or Bluehost.

6) Build content on focused keywords to attract more traffic. Use blogs, social media, video etc to build links and get ranked in Google to get free traffic

7) Find products/services you think are great and recommend them to your list. Sign up to be an affiliate and write reviews on these products and send it to your list with affiliate links for them to buy. Easy way to get started as an affiliate is Amazon and Commission Junction.

So that’s the basics. Start with #1 and work down the list.
